The @getcallin app is growing rapidly, not only because it's devoted to airing a wide range of views without censoring the wrong ideologies, but also because it fosters interactivity so nobody can do reporting or express views without addressing critics: the healthy model.

Mark Cuban, a man with opinions about everything, has no opinion on the origin of the virus. 🤔

Yet feels strongly that Fauci and Collins must be defended against charges that they suppressed the lab origin theory. 🤔🤔

This is the current liberal position: when Facebook censors speech you don’t like, it’s a private company free to do what it wants. But when they *allow* speech you don’t like (eg Haugen accusations), it’s an evil company that should be castigated, hounded and litigated to death.
I hate Facebook as a company. I think what Zuckerberg is doing to this country is awful. That's my opinion. But even if they get broken up, guess what, the social network part of their company will still be huge and still have their 1st amendment rights.

Democracy requires an educated population. If people aren’t getting the truth — because officials spread misinformation, the mainstream media reports that misinformation unchecked, and Big Tech censors on behalf of it — our system breaks down.

Why do you focus so much in this?

In other words, what concerns me is not so much this particular lie but the integrity of the marketplace of ideas. There’s never been a shortage of politicians telling lies, but when the lies are protected by censorship, that tells you something larger is wrong.

According to their own emails, NIH officials Fauci and Collins were advised by scientists on Feb 1, 2020 that a lab leak was the most likely explanation for Covid, but by Feb 4 had decided to discredit that view as a conspiracy theory. invidious.poast.org/sD0i_YxPATc

Social media platforms then censored the lab leak theory based on official opinion, allowing the fake zoonotic theory (eg pangolins) to spread. In other words, social media censorship caused disinformation by suppressing legitimate inquiry and viewpoints.

One of the most misguided aspects of social media censorship is the way it assumes misinformation can only come from the political fringes. Actually it can come from official sources too. This is often the most dangerous kind. It's important to be able to question these sources.

If you’re concerned about the senseless killing of Brianna Kupfer by a deranged homeless person, you’re a fascist. So says the staff of @mikebonin whose policies allow mentally ill homeless people to occupy public spaces with impunity.
Anti-homeless language resembles fascistic rhetoric because they are both rooted in hierarchy and elitism and because they both advocate for authoritarianism. Don’t complain about being called a fascist. Stop acting like one instead.
