We could end this in a relatively short period of time this if everyone would just start wearing N95 masks.

It is amazing to me how someone who is obviously a thoughtful physician could think this.

If we all wore N95s we could drive transmission way down, but as a practical matter not down to zero鈥攊t will never be perfect and people aren't going to wear them at home. It's not an elimination strategy. If we ever want to take them off again, we need to do something else.

I'm frankly not even sure, with delta, that this would work to drive R below 1. But even if it did, it wouldn't do so in a stable, permanent way.

We could get to the point where we could entertain #zerocovid. The way it鈥檚 going with vaccines, clearly vaccines aren鈥檛 going to get us there alone. We need to physically control the virus.

We can't entertain zerocovid. It's just not happening. Certainly not if we ever want a world with international travel and few or no NPIs at home.

Plus don't they have to be properly fitted, which means no beards, which means you'd get reistence from (at least) Orthodox Jews, Muslims, and Sikhs?
