Anyone reading any of my threads should feel free to ask for a recipe, or they can just randomly ask me for recipes for Swedish food. This account exists to save people's souls through helping them discover The One True Kitchen.
i mean for all we know they could be busy working to bring about change at the local level. non-zero chance that theyre organizing such LARP conventions to "boost morale" aka to have fun and engage in a good old team building exercise.
People will portray "showing up at a local GOP meeting" as somehow being infinitely "reformist" or "cringe" or whatever compared to being a based epic revolutionary, but in reality the reason you start from the bottom is because political power comes from machines.
If you want to replace the GOP with your epic Aesthetic Fascist Regime, fine, but you will only succeed in doing so if you have *power*. And the *means* of building power in human societies haven't changed much in the last 3000 years.
Having elite pretentions, or thinking you're some natural born leader occupying a higher caste than the dumb plebs, is just a waste of time. You aren't going to be crowned Emperor of Evropa by Kamala Harris. Your only realistic option is to be a tribune of the plebs.
If you don't want to play the role of a tribune, fine, you can be Luke Skywalker or Harry Potter or the reincarnation of Charles the Hammer. All of these are fine options for your political movement, but neither of them give you one iota of power out there in the real world.
If you don't have *power*, all your ideas, all your based plans for how your society will look like, all of that is just a fandom, or some sort of cope. And if you aren't looking to constantly *build up more power*, then whatever you are doing isn't actually political.
If someone from the Patriot Front could actually explain how putting on a based epic photo op of masked anonymous people will build power, then fine. But all of this shit just ends up being idealistic underpants gnome thinking. "If we just do based shit, we will win, right??"
Even being a minoritarian faction in politics is about machine-building. The Bolsheviks were a minority among socialists in Russia, but they ended up winning because they had by far the best and most entrenched institutions among the military garrisons in the larger cities.
If you simplify politics to its most basic level, it is a game about building power, with its standard "action loop" being getting people to do something *you* want by giving them something *they* want. What does PF and people like them want people to do? What are they offering?
The primary thing I think this PF thing shows is that the current crop of RWers has been very successfully gyoped by the rainbow-stasi. They are now completely and utterly paranoid that everyone is a fed, and can now rest on that to excuse inaction.
Going to go back to shilling @maxmorton6GDM and his writing on political organizing. A lot of this stuff is just 100% best practice things you have to think about in order to actually build an institution from the bottom up.
America, being a two party system, means new parties and movements don't form that often. Being the center of the imperial system, the US is also so awash in money that "grifting" (ie. political rent-seeking) usually destroys most attempts at doing anything.
If you want to avoid that happening, you basically have to 1) start local, 2) be very careful about vetting people (for obvious reasons), 3) focus on building a rapport with potential local constituencies. Being governor or president is not an entry-level job!
