44 Florida officers have died in the line of duty this year. 33 of those deaths were from Covid. (Source: @ODMP) If you wear a bulletproof vest to protect yourself from bullets, you can get a vaccine to protect yourself AND OTHERS from Covid.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) says Florida is "actively working to recruit out-of-state law enforcement" officers quitting in opposition to vaccine mandates: "If you're not being treated well, we'll treat you better here."

One of the nuttier under-the-radar police stories: Violent, organized gangs have been operating out of the LA Sheriff’s Department for decades. They’ve committed murders. This isn’t theory or rumor. It isn’t really disputed. And it’s still going on. latimes.com/california/story…

Cops lie. Thankfully the DA there seems interested in justice so far.
Remember when cops in Delaware County PA claimed a “drive by shooter” killed a little girl? Turns out there was no drive by shooter. It was just the cops, blindly firing into a crowd of people leaving a football game. This should be getting media attention. #FantaBility

If 700,000 people lived in Wyoming, you'd be able to name 100 - but you can't because Wyoming doesn't exist.

I'm glad to see the Federal Reserve adopting such a sensible set of rules.
The Fed will bar senior officials, including the 12 reserve bank presidents, from individual trading of stocks or bonds. It will also impose new rules to make investments in permitted funds to be prescheduled, preapproved and held for at least 1 year wsj.com/articles/fed-imposes…

The main thing I like about Biden is that I'm pretty sure he'll leave if he loses reelection, and no one will get killed in the process.

750,000 Americans dead from COVID, and the same people who told us it was “just the flu” and that concern about it was a “hoax” still have their multi-million dollar TV contracts and spew more nonsense every night.

Those "scraps" are worth $4.5 trillion And this looks like Fed DFA data, so the "stock market" component excludes pensions, 401(k)s, etc., where the bottom 90% have another $14.3 trillion All together, that's over $160,000 per household in the bottom 90% Scraps!
The top 10% of Americans owns about 90% of the stock market, while the bottom 90% fights over the scraps. This is feudalism.

I've seen this take a lot and it never mentions that the stock market crashed in February of 2020, and went through a predictable rebound in the following year. On paper this does make it look like the rich have been getting richer during the pandemic.
The superrich are winning. Amid the pandemic, the possibilities for transformation seemed real. But now reforms to tax extreme wealth are getting dropped from Biden's agenda, even as we're seeing ever more grotesque metrics of inequality almost daily: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

How many of the problems that "have never been this bad" are like this? I bet most of them. The kids are alright.
Wait one more crazy statistic for the day: In 1991, nearly *a third* of high-schoolers thought seriously about killing themselves childtrends.org/indicators/s… What the hell was happening in the early 90s??

This story is very disingenuous. The stock market dropped 5.6% in a week 23 days after Powell sold his stocks. If you know anyone who can reliably time the market a day in advance, let alone 23, please let me know. And of course stocks are way up now. 1/3 prospect.org/economy/powell-…
