Believe it or not, I got back from two months away and tried a half-full Philipponnat champagne bottle under one of the stoppers I recommend that was probably opened three months ago(!) from the fridge door and it was still delicious.
On sparkling wines - surely even if you vac seal, if you have drunk more than a few glasses the co2 will disperse from the liquid? I find a few days is ok but any more and it goes flat

I made a VGP (very good program) that makes it so it looks like I’m typing on slack whenever anyone else is typing, and stops when they stop. Everyone loves it so far and doesn’t find it annoying at all! github.com/will/slacktyping

Good investigation. “Lyon ended up being interrogated by a citizen cop who is cross sworn as a Task Force Officer for the feds. The officer typically wouldn’t have the authority to seize money, but can when he’s working as a fed”
Here’s something I’ve never seen before & can’t find anywhere: a fed agent seized $115K from a man @RDUAirport. The agent says he’s going to launch a fed investigation of money laundering & drug activity. Then offers the man a way out: surrender his cash & no investigation:

I love how Mohamed has no problem tweeting about multiple equilibrium dynamics, but feels the need to translate “petrol” and “lorry” into American so people understand what he’s talking about
Some petrol (gas) station had to close in the UK. It’s not due a shortage of petrol. Rather, it’s a spillover from the a lack of lorry (truck) drivers. Illustrates what the “transitory” dogma fails to capture: multiple equilibrium dynamics. For background: ft.com/content/0fe0d5d0-3d1f…

Every time you see a story about the inhumane conditions, chaos, and death at Rikers, remember that NYC spends $447k to jail one person for one year. Not only has that increased 146% since 2014, but is 3-10x the cost of other large counties. A complete failure of government.

Interesting to see “actual cost” parsed as “public sector borrowing requirement” rather than “amount spent”. Which is weird. If I spend $500 on a mattress, the actual cost of that mattress is $500, even if I pay cash and don’t borrow anything to pay for it.
The actual cost of the Build Back Better Act is $0.00, not $3.5 trillion. The legislation will be paid for by taxing the wealthiest & corporations so we fund the needs of working families.

Is this true? What time do coupon payments normally arrive?
By the way, looks like Evergrande failed to make coupon payments on dollar bonds that were due today. 30 day grace period, though, so technically only in default then. Likely scenario is haircut on bonds & orderly breakup of Evergrande.

Multiply this by 100 and you start getting a feel for the scale of Evergrande
When thinking about new home inventory, here’s one way to think about it — KB Homes has 9,000 homes in production, only 240 of which are unsold past the foundation stage:

It's amazing how basically every single fictional utopia is free of cars. From Star Trek to The Good Place, on some very deep level in society, we all know cars are bad.
