Congrats to Merrick Garland's daughter, Jessica, on receiving one of the most lucrative gigs a young lawyer can get: a Supreme Court clerkship, offered by Elena Kagan. As this thread explains, it's a bizarre choice given how often she'll have to recuse herself from working:

6/ As noted by @FelixSalmon, law firms pay hefty signing bonuses for #SCOTUS clerks after they finish their clerkships. The going rate for these hiring bonuses is expected to hit $450,000 soon (if it hasn't already). bit.ly/3zd0nwb

In response to @DavidLat's reporting that Elena Kagan had hired Merrick Garland's daughter to be her Supreme Court clerk, the Court announced that, due to obvious conflicts, she now will not serve in that role, saying she was hired in mid-2020:
